Case Study: Ecosave Energy Performance ContractingEnergy Savings Project – Department of Education & Communities NSW

Ecosave saves Tax Payers $1.4M annually in energy costs in 33 government schools across NSW

In a bid to reduce energy costs and achieve carbon emissions targets, the Department of Education & Communities NSW engaged Ecosave’s energy services through a series of four Energy Performance Contracting / EPC tenders.

Ecosave had worked closely with the Department and each school directly, to ensure energy savings projects were implemented with minimal disruption to staff and students.

The following Government schools benefited from the Department of Education & Communities’ leadership and Ecosave’s quality energy savings solutions:

  • Epping Boys High School
  • Fort Street High School
  • Rose Bay SC
  • Chifley College Bidwell
  • Castle Hill High School
  • Chester Hill High School
  • Sydney SC Leichardt
  • Curl Curl North Primary School
  • Forestville Primary School
  • Lane Cove West Primary School
  • Peakhurst West Primary School
  • Lismore High School
  • Kingscliff
  • The River SC
  • Richmond River High School
  • Tweed River High School
  • Tamworth West Primary School
  • Valley View Primary School
  • Wakehurst Primary School
  • Molong Central School
  • Blacktown Girls High School
  • Elizabeth Macarthur High School
  • Kiama High School
  • Leeton High School
  • Marrickville High School
  • Mullumbimby High School
  • Kingscliff High School
  • Camden High School
  • Casula High School
  • Concord High School
  • Macquarie Fields High School
  • Prairiewood High School
  • Ashcroft High School

Ecosave implemented the following energy savings solutions in these EPCs:

  • Light fitting refurbishments
  • Light fitting replacements with high efficiency LED Lighting in classrooms, covered pathways, school halls, libraries and staff common areas.
  • Installation of Solar PV panels

The Department of Education & Communities NSW invested more than $11 million for energy efficiency upgrades to these schools. The energy conservation measures and embedded solar power generation implemented by Ecosave, achieved substantial energy savings for each school, and for Taxpayers overall.

The combined annual cost savings achieved across all four projects is in excess of $1.4 million, while more than 5,900 tonnes of carbon emissions is being saved on an annual basis.

The staff and students benefit from improved ambience and comfort with the new LED lighting installed. Furthermore, the school community benefits from a positive example of ‘sustainability-in-action’ with Solar PV panels and high efficiency LEDs. These energy savings solutions educates school children about the importance of environmental sustainability.

Below are some Reviews about Ecosave’s energy savings solutions

I would like to commend the work that Ecosave has recently completed in our school…the large job was handled professionally and the finished product is of the highest quality… There was minimal disruption to the school day and most of the work was completed in absence of staff and students…I would be happy to recommend Ecosave to any other school or business who may be contemplating changing lights to LED.

Lane Cove West Public School has been fortunate to have new LED lighting installed in all permanent classrooms, admin and outdoor areas of the school. The teachers and students have reported that the lighting is much brighter and less glary than the old Fluorescent light fittings which we had previously…Lane Cove West is looking forward to continuing its quest to be a sustainable, energy saving school Ecosave has assisted us on the road to achieving this goal.
