Dairy Farmer Co-op a beacon of light for sustainability: cuts CO2-e emissions by 1,877 tonnes with Ecosave lighting project
Australia’s largest Dairy foods company is leading the way when it comes to environmental sustainability by minimising their environmental impact and generation of waste in all its forms. Devondale Murray Goulburn engaged Ecosave to conduct two detailed assessments at the Leongatha facility for a cumulative period of 10 days. During these assessments, specialist engineers specifically identified current lighting types which include: dimensions, current conditions, styles and materials, lux levels, hours of operation and quantities. Through these assessments, Ecosave gained critical insight as to the operation and run hours both during day and night and obtained accurate parameters to develop a firm analysis of site energy use. The analysis was used to implement leading
edge solutions to minimise energy consumption within the stipulated financial criteria.
THE SOLUTION THAT WAS IMPLEMENTED:
• Refurbishment of inefficient light fittings
• Replacement of Light fittings
• Installation of lighting controls
• Motion sensors
• Long range PIR sensors
Ecosave developed a program of upgrade works by combining solutions into a fit for purpose package that maximises and guarantees energy savings. These upgrades not only save energy, money and emissions, but they also save on maintenance costs and deliver greater operational efficiency. “Ecosave is helping dairy farmers to minimise their environmental impact and generation of waste in all of its forms.”
