Case Study: Ecosave Energy Savings Project – Amcor

Amcor has energy savings in the bag

Amcor, one of the world’s top global packaging companies lives up to its value of “We respond to the needs of our communities and the environment”.

To respond to the needs to the local environment Amcor called on the expertise of Ecosave to provide cost effective energy conservation solutions in their sites throughout Australia.

One of the challenges met by the Ecosave staff was the varying manufacturing types from metal fabrication of beverage containers to paper packaging, which require unique solutions at each site.

When designing solutions for Amcor, Ecosave used a flexible and holistic multi-technology approach to include the right mix of solutions to suit Amcor’s operations and facilities.

The energy conservation measures that have been implemented are:

  • Lighting refurbishments and replacements
  • Appliance controls
  • Motion controls

Amcor plants around Australia have utilised the services of Ecosave to assist them with the identification and implementation of many Energy Efficiency projects… they guarantee savings and we have had very good success with Ecosave projects.

-Peter Dobney, Group Manager Resources and Energy

The total investment in this guaranteed energy savings project was $242,237 for the design, installation and commissioning of the complete package of energy conservation solutions. The energy conservation solutions put in place by Ecosave achieved annual energy savings of $118,529. This meant that the cost of this project was effectively paid back in 2 years.

There are also significant environmental benefits to Ecosave’s guaranteed energy savings project. As a result of the energy conservation measures, the client was able to reduce their carbon footprint by more than 1,400 tonnes, which is equivalent to 304 passenger vehicles driven for one year.
