Four schools located in Castlemaine Victoria participated in a project aimed at lowering energy use and greenhouse gas emissions.
The project was managed by the Central Victorian Greenhouse Gas Alliance who used the services of Ecosave to implement solutions to achieve the project aims. The group received a grant from two state government sources, the Community Action Fund and the Sustainable Energy Authority Victoria, to assist in funding the project works.
The schools involved were Castlemaine Secondary College (senior and junior), Castlemaine North Primary, Winters Flat Primary and Harcourt Primary.
The solutions that have been implemented in the schools are:
- Refurbishment of twin fluorescent light fittings to a single tube, installing a
high performance reflector, maintaining the existing light level.
Refurbishment of quad fluorescent light fittings to twin tubes, installing high performance reflectors, maintaining the existing light levels.
- Refurbishment of triple fluorescent light fittings to twin tubes, installing
high performance reflectors, maintaining the existing light levels.
- Installing voltage reduction units to save on the energy consumed by
fluorescent lights
Ecosave donates to Greening Australia, one native seedling for every tonne of CO2 and every 100 kilolitres of water saved, which additionally enhances the environment
